ONLINE SESSION | Parenting & Place – Tuesday 10 November 2026 – 12pm to 1pm

Parenting & Place: How Place, Walking and Everyday Mobility Shape Parental Wellbeing
Environments matter to health and wellbeing in early parenthood; streets, parks, neighbourhoods, services and everyday journeys all intersect with a parent’s ability to feel well.
Please join us as Dr Eva Neely (Senior Lecturer) and Dr Vicki Hargraves (Teaching Fellow) share findings from their parent-centred urbanism research, showing how new parents experience and navigate everyday environments and what makes places feel supportive, accessible and conducive to connection.
They will reflect on what a parent-centred approach to urban environments might mean for practitioners, services, planners and communities seeking to support parents and whānau. You will be invited to offer real-world feedback as those who support our communities every day.
